British-Turkish pianist, Lara Melda, was crowned BBC Young Musician 2010 following her performance of Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No.2 with Vasily Petrenko and the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. In 2016 she graduated from the Royal College of Music with a first-class honours degree and is already an established international concert pianist. In summer 2018 she made her BBC Proms and Royal Albert Hall debut as one of the soloists performing an evening devoted to previous Young Musician winners and was also a guest on BBC TV’s ‘Proms Extra’ programme. Highly praised for her interpretations of Chopin, she released a CD of his music in 2019, and was also named by Pianist Magazine as one of “five of the piano world’s brightest talents to keep your eyes on this year!”
