Since forming in 1972, the Brodsky Quartet has performed over 3000 concerts world-wide and has released more than 60 recordings. A natural curiosity and an insatiable desire to explore have propelled the group in a number of artistic directions, including collaborations with Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello and Björk, which continues to ensure them not only a prominent presence on the international chamber music scene but also a rich and varied musical existence. With a similarly extraordinary career spanning over four decades, Martin Roscoe is one of the UK’s best loved pianists. Renowned for his versatility at the keyboard, Martin is equally at home in concerto, recital and chamber performances. We are delighted to welcome both artists back to Skipton – Martin last performed for us in 1993, the Quartet in 1998 – for a special collaboration featuring three of Elgar’s later works, two of which are included on a new CD released by Chandos Records in 2019. The concert will be accompanied by an exhibition on the musical life of Skipton’s Raikeswood Prisoner of War camp in association with the Craven and the First World War Project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
This concert is kindly sponsored by The Railway, Skipton and John Rhodes Carpets & Blinds of Skipton.
