South African cellist Abel Selaocoe explores the capacity of the cello across a plethora of genres, from collaborating with beatboxers and world musicians, to giving concerto performances and solo classical recitals. Abel studied at Manchester's Royal Northern College of Music, where he won several awards. He tours internationally as a soloist, and with his global folk fusion quintet Kabantu, including performances at Wigmore Hall, the Proms and the London Jazz Festival. In 2018 he performed live on Radio 3's 'In Tune', and has presented his own 'Inside Music' show. In December 2018, Abel became one of seven new Honorary Associate Artists of the RNCM.
